Okay, you saw the list of services Arise Studio offers and began to wonder, what is that? Not everyone likes surprises and when we have such questions we tend to stick with what we know. This page is intended for those of you that want a more detailed description of the services offered.
So what is Arise Studio's Therapeutic Massage?
Depending on your body's need and current condition, this Swedish massage may include the use of specialized modalities such as cupping, doTERRA oils, the Hurley Jr. technique, Deep Tissue massage and/or Lymphatic drainage. This treatment is intended to reduce pain/inflammation/tension, improve range of motion/positivity & overall wellness to revitalize your day.
It is offered in intervals of 60 minutes, 90 minutes or 120 minutes. For those that have not received a professional massage before, it's recommended that you start with a 60 minute massage. If you find that there is one particular area bothering you or you're on a time crunch, the Isolated Massage may be ideal for you.
The Isolated Massage is not a full body treatment, it focuses on one area of concern. It's a great introductory massage for those who have not experienced a massage before, are on a time limit, or are not fit for a full treatment.
Is Chair Massage the better choice for you?
Chair massage is a great introduction to massage that will still relieve pain, tension and stress. It is great for businesses that want to treat their employees, individuals that are on a time crunch, someone with mobility issues that limits them from disrobing or getting onto a massage table, those who are weary of being draped, anyone that does not like the feeling of lotions or oils on their skin since they are not used in this treatment, and whoever is not physically capable of handling a massage for more than 10-15 min. (this often includes children, frail individuals & the elderly).
Cupping
Cupping therapy is a form of traditional Chinese and Middle Eastern medicine in which a therapist puts special cups on your skin for a few minutes to create suction. Since the cups can also be applied to major acupressure points, the practice is possibly effective at treating conditions commonly treated with acupressure. Although this therapy has been used for thousands of years to ease back pain, neck pain, headaches and other problems, it has been found effective to help with inflammation, blood flow, relaxation, well-being and as a type of deep tissue massage.
Essential Oils
Although essential oils have been used for thousands of years by ancient civilizations across the globe for aromatherapy, personal care, healthcare practices, religious ceremonies, beauty treatments, and even food preparation, they certainly have become very trendy over the last few years. Chances are you have heard of them, but maybe you haven't used any yet. So, what are essential oils? Essential oils are the essence of a plant, a gift from the earth, distilled and prepared for you to bring the power of nature into your home. Inside many plants—hidden in roots, seeds, flowers, bark—are concentrated, highly potent chemical compounds. These natural & unique aromatic compounds are essential oils and give each one its characteristic essence. The way the oils are made is important, as essential oils obtained through chemical processes are not considered true essential oils.
What are essential oils used for today?
Historically, essential oils were used as part of cultural practices and traditions. However, we now have increasing scientific evidence and research showing that essential oils can be effectively and safely used in a wider range of day-to-day practices and routines for amazing benefits. Today, essential oils can be used for cooking, household cleaning, personal hygiene, and much, much more.
At Arise Studio essential oils are used for aromatherapy, natural scenting of its goat milk soaps, and for healing oil treatments such as Symphony of Cells and your customized castor oil pack. Select the Natural Health & Beauty Products page for more on essential oils and wellness packages offered.
Symphony of Cells

It's been created with the knowledge that every condition is connected to a body system and uses the hands-on massage application of specific essential oils to the spine and feet to eliminate minor and major causes of sickness and disease. There are 19 different protocols that can help with hundreds of illnesses and conditions. Your current ailments and goals will determine which of the 19 protocol is best & used for you during your appointment.
Your Customized Castor Oil Pack
During your initial visit, we will use the iTOVi scanner to create your customized treatment plan. This portion of your appointment will take about 40-45 minutes. With the scan we will be able to review the products most fitting for your body's current needs. By discussing the emotional and physical aspects of each item and how it will best suit you, we can create a powerful treatment plan. Through this knowledge you will be encouraged to focus on the benefits each oil has to offer and what you want from each one to maximize your healing experience. Your customized oil treatment will take about 40-45 minutes. During your treatment you will have the option to receive massage of your extremities, or simply lay peacefully. Please be aware that any time a treatment plan is being created, this service will require about 90 minutes and the rate is adjusted to $75. When utilizing an established plan, the treatment is about 60 minutes, and rated at $60.
This castor oil pack is infused with doTERRA essential oils selected through a scan to meet your body’s current needs. When placed on the skin, castor oils packs are thought to enhance circulation and promote healing of the tissue and organs underneath the skin. While its uses are extensive, some alternative medicine practitioners use these packs to improve liver function, relieve pain, reduce inflammation, improve digestion, flush toxins, remove parasites, stimulate the lymphatic system & help cleanse the reproductive organs.
Today, most of the world’s castor oil is produced in India. Modern research backs up some of its traditional uses, including laxative effects, anti-inflammatory properties, and the ability to help induce labor. Castor oil is a thick, odorless oil made from the seeds of the castor plant. More than 90% of castor oil’s fatty acid content is ricinoleic acid. Research shows that this omega-9 has pain relief and anti-inflammatory effects. When applied to the skin castor oil may help relieve issues like joint pain and menstrual cramps. Studies show that castor oil’s ricinoleic acid reduces swelling and pain caused by inflammation; suggesting that it may reduce arthritis symptoms more effectively than prescription topical treatments, however more studies are needed to confirm this effect in humans.
Castor oil’s fatty acids are natural humectants, substances used to moisturize the skin by preventing water loss. This effect can promote good skin health, relieve dryness, and soothe skin inflammation. It may also have the potential to accelerate wound healing. Castor oil is a triglyceride that has antibacterial and antimicrobial properties. Research shows that, when applied to the skin, it may prevent infection, reduce inflammation, improve localized blood flow, and shed damaged skin cells — all of which help the skin's healing process.
Castor oil is a common ingredient in many beauty products. It’s rich in essential fatty acids that moisturize the skin, and research continues to study how their properties may be effective in treating common skin conditions. Castor oil can benefit overall skin health, but may treat specific skin conditions as well. Though there’s a lack of clinical research, its combination of antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and moisturizing effects is thought to help treat some causes of acne. One study showed that castor oil also fights fungal infections, which may help relieve hard-to-treat fungal acne. Other studies have found castor oil helpful in the treatment of melasma, dandruff, and ringworm.
Because Castor oil has also been used to help pregnant women with delivery for centuries, it is not a recommended treatment when pregnant. In fact, a survey from 1999 found that 93% of midwives in the U.S. used castor oil to induce labor. While further research is needed, one study found that castor oil initiated labor in 91% of women with little to no childbirth complications.
What is the iTOVi scanner?
iTOVi uses Galvanic Skin Response (GSR) and pairs it with a proprietary algorithm. GSR, and the science behind it, has been around for over 100 years. The iTOVi Scanner sends the electrical signatures of the essential oils and supplements to your body. Your reaction is recorded at that moment and matches them to your unique electrical signature. The iTOVi then provides you a report of the top products you respond to best.
Who is Hurley Jr and why is he part of my treatment?
This technique developed by Dr. John Hurley in the 1930’s was originally called Aquarian-Age Healing. Hurley’s technique was about healing for the body and for the planet, which is what he defined as the Aquarian-Age.
The principles that he talked of in his books incorporated the structural assessment of the body and removal of distortion through the principles of “Bio-Mechanics and Bio-Engineering”.
The Hurley/Osborn treatment is a gentle, non-invasive, subtle-energy body and spinal alignment, which results in the release of physical strain and fatigue. This will:
- Relieve back pain
- Release neck strain and headaches
- Restore posture
- Regain flexibility
- Improve circulation
Because Arise Studio is only using a piece of this technique for the desired results, it's referred to as the Hurley Jr vs the full Hurley Technique.
