In 2018, not only did I begin my journey to become a massage therapist, but I began raising goats too. While my roommate raised Nubian dairy goats, I took an interest in British Guernsey dairy goats. Well, it all escalated very quickly and before I knew it I had more milk than I knew what to do with. See at this time I was certain I was lactose intolerant and refused to even try their milk until Jed mentioned that it may not be a lactose intolerance, but an issue with A1 vs A2 milk. Through muscle testing it was determined that A2 should agree with me. So, being how goats supply A2 milk, much like humans, I began to try their milk with no discomfort. Before realizing this, I had already began finding ways of utilizing my over supply of milk, which led me to creating goat milk soaps.
I've played with a number of different recipes before finding "the one". This handcrafted soap has the following ingredients to make the ideal bar.
- Sweet Almond oil, which produces a rich conditioning lather. High in Vitamins E, A and D as well as Oleic and Linoleic fatty acids, this oil is perfect for soothing dry, flaky and irritated skin. It is said to be beneficial for skin ailments like rashes, psoriasis and eczema.
- Coconut oil, has some amazing qualities for a soap bar including being a great cleanser, making a long lasting hard bar of soap and creating large bubbles. It is full of antioxidants and is composed of healthy saturated fats and vitamins like vitamin E, amino acids, lauric acid, and caprylic acid. All of which make it moisturizing, as well as antimicrobial to help reduce acne & eczema, its high levels of polyphenols and fatty acid components are knows to reduce inflammation.
- Castor oil, is a natural moisturizer rich in ricinoleic acid, a monounsaturated fatty acid. They act as humectants, which retain moisture by preventing water loss through the outer layer of the skin. Castor oil is used in cosmetics to promote hydration.
- Beef Tallow, helps to produce a rich, creamy lather that is gently cleansing and wonderful for your skin. It helps make a very hard bar that won't turn into goop in your shower.
- Goat Milk, is a gentle cleanser rich in nutrients that may improve dry skin & prevent acne. While being a natural exfoliant it supports a healthy skin microbiome.
These soaps are all natural with mostly organic, high quality ingredients. Even the animal fats are pasture raised. While the ingredients are consistent, their appearance does change. Powdered herbs are used to add color naturally, and while I have been using doTERRA essential oils to add scent, I'm researching other essential oil brands to help hold the scent longer while being more cost effective. A number of different molds are on hand as well, so no batch is 100% like the other. They are 100% handcrafted.
While I support the use of essential oils, and respect my clients brand preferences, I personally am a wellness advocate for doTERRA. Although essential oils are very popular & beneficial, doTERRA offers a wide variety of other wellness products as well.
